Addictions and Mental Wellness in The Workplace

Goodbye Stress…
Hello Life!

Smiling on the Outside …
Crying on the Inside

Reputation: National
Location: Saskatoon

Allan Kehler draws from his personal and professional experiences with mental illness and addictions and he empowers people to live opposed to merely exist.

As a member of the Canadian Association of Professional Speakers (CAPS), he has conducted hundreds of seminars while gaining national attention for his dynamic and captivating approach.

Allan has spent years working as an addictions counsellor, clinical case manager, and college instructor. His book, Stepping Out From the Shadows: A Guide to Understanding & Healing from Addictions, can be found in treatment centers, classrooms, and workplaces across Canada. His writing has also been published in several national magazines.

Allan currently lives in Saskatoon with his beautiful wife and four kids. His appreciation and passion for the First Nations culture has led to his current position where he is an instructor at the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technology.

"I have heard more than 100 presentations on similar topics but Allan's approach is refreshing because it is so holistic and positive. He has a gift in reaching far beyond the facts and statistics. He talks to MY experience and MY desire to live fuller with more freedom. When Allan speaks he has a compassion for people and an innate belief that the human spirit can overcome personal challenges. He is the speaker that supervisors and employee groups need to hear when planning topics around Addictions, EFAP, and Wellness."

Arlene Jorgenson, CEO, SK WellPoint Health Ltd.
"I have had the privilege of attending several seminars on Mental Health in the Workplace and found Allan's to be, by far, the most personal, insightful, educational and informative. Allan is an engaging speaker whose passionate delivery captivates the audience and allows us to share in the emotions and experiences of individuals living with mental illness. He brought humor to an otherwise heavy topic without compromising the seriousness of the message. I left Allan's seminar a more informed and compassionate person."
Heather Ricketts, National Manager of Employee and Labour Relations,
Sleep Country Canada
"I have been in prison for one year now and today is the first time in a long time that I have felt real inspiration to pursue my dreams. Today, you have given me hope which allows me to see past my incarceration and look towards a brighter future. I will never forget your presentation."
Derek, Inmate, Drumheller Institution
"I had the pleasure of attending Allan's presentation at the Western Conference on Safety. It was not only informative but also engaging and entertaining. Allan took the subject of addiction in the workplace beyond the typical impairment recognition and humanized the issue while offering simple techniques that could be used by anyone in the workplace. Learning about this subject from Allan's perspective was extremely valuable."
Ashley Williams, Manager of Corporate Safety, Leavitt Machinery
"Allan is an inspiration. He has a thoroughly positive outlook for someone who has faced such adversities. His presentation is upbeat and full of energy. He touches on sensitive subjects, but does so with humor, and lots of compassion and understanding."
Gerard Rieger, Sr. H&S Advisor, Cenovus Energy
"I attended Allan's presentation at the LTCAM conference and he certainly exceeded my expectations. Allan is a dynamic and engaging speaker, touching on such topics (mental illness, addiction, suicide) that need to be far more openly discussed in society. The information was insightful and relevant to all aspects of life. By far the best presentation I have attended in years, and I would love to hear further presentations by Allan."
Shelly Kasprick, attendee at the Long Term & Continuing Care
Association of Manitoba
"I had the pleasure of moderating Allan's webcast on HR.com and would definitely recommend him as a speaker! His presentation changed my perspective towards individuals who are struggling with the issues of mental illness and addictions. He opened my eyes on how I can help those in my personal and professional life. It is clear to see how a professional in a leadership role would benefit from this and be able to better assist those who are struggling."
Natasha Giorgio, Virtual Events Administrator, HR.com
"Allan's passion, energy, and commitment to making a difference for those struggling with addictions engaged me from the first moment of his presentation. What made him stand apart was his honesty, organization, pacing, and clear yet direct message. With 30 years education experience, I typically write down only the few key gems I hear in presentations that I would like to return to later. In Allan's presentation, I filled a couple of pages in my notebook."
Greg Verhappen, Vice Principal, Bishop O'Byrne High School
"I attended Allan's presentation at the Human Resources Institute of Alberta conference and was thoroughly impressed with how well he was able to communicate the subject matter in such a caring and thoughtful way. He was very informative yet compassionate in his ideas and messages; sharing with the audience some very striking facts."
Brenda Clark, Principle, Advanced Corporate Health Inc.
"Allan is a dynamic and engaging speaker. His heartfelt message captured the attention of our diverse employee population. His message was relevant to the issues faced by many employees in a remote northern worksite."
Cristal Glass, Training Advisor, AREVA Resources Canada
"Allan's presentation and work on addictions in general was excellent and informative. His delivery is confident, polished, yet emotional and from the heart. Allan is definitely an excellent addition to any speaking venue and I would highly recommend him."
Mike Doyle, President, Canadian Association of GeoPhysical Contractors
"Koehler positioned himself not as an authority or a lecturer, but humbly. Unlike so many other speakers, his intention was not to 'scare the students straight' but to teach them that help can be found."
Alex McPhail, Reporter, News Optimist
"Al is progressive in his quest to focus on the two societal challenges around mental health and addictions. His excellence as a speaker is evident in the way he is able to draw the attention of each and every person in the audience. People walk away with an increased awareness, compassion and understanding, and reduced attitudes of stigma."
Elaine Marko, High School Teacher
"Allan is very open-minded and accepting of the unique First Nations culture. He is extremely passionate and genuine in wanting to help all people recover from addictions. His personality and skills are impeccable as he takes on difficult topics and handles them with ease."
Barb Sankey, Coordinator of Community Service Programs, S.I.I.T.
